■ Research Background (Validation Context)
Using Artian weapons, I calculated the DPS (Damage Per Second) including reload times to determine whether Normal Ammo (Attack Up focus) or Pierce Ammo (Affinity focus) is more effective in actual combat.
Test Build & Conditions:
- Normal Ammo Build: 215 Attack, -10% Affinity.
- Pierce Ammo Build: 195 Attack, 15% Affinity.
- Augments: Carefully selected Raw Attack Up EX *2, Raw Attack Up III, and Capacity Up EX *2.
- Testing Method: Measured in the Training Area. Both builds have a capacity of 6 rounds. Tested with Rapid Fire (6 shots total) without Step Shots for the baseline.
■ Test Results (Data Breakdown)
| Ammo Type | Total Hits per magazine | Total Damage | Damage per Hit |
| Normal Lv3 | 5 hits | 107.5 | 21.5 |
| Pierce Lv3 | 27 hits | 151.47 | 15.79 |
Equipped with First Shot Lv3. Measured the total time from firing 6 rounds to completing the reload.
- Normal Lv3 Cycle Time: 5.49 sec
- Pierce Lv3 Cycle Time: 9.59 sec
DPS Calculation:
- Normal Lv3: 107.5 Damage / 5.49s = 19.58 DPS
- Pierce Lv3: 151.47 Damage / 9.59s = 15.79 DPS
■ Comparison: Normal Ammo Wins in Consistency
While Pierce Ammo deals higher total damage per magazine, Normal Ammo wins in overall rotation due to significantly shorter reload and animation locks.
- Normal Lv3: 19.58 DPS
- Pierce Lv3: 15.79 DPS
In this comparison, Normal Ammo is approximately 1.24x more efficient than Pierce Ammo when factoring in the reload cycle.
■ Advanced Maneuver: Step Shot Optimization
If you utilize Step Shots for every Pierce Ammo volley, the cycle time is reduced to 6.81 seconds.
- Pierce Lv3 (with Step Shots): 22.24 DPS
This outperforms Normal Ammo (19.58 DPS) by about 1.13x. However, in actual combat, maintaining critical distance and ensuring all 27 hits land while constantly repositioning is a much higher skill ceiling.
■ Conclusion
The choice depends on your playstyle:
- Reliable Consistency: Choose Normal Lv3 (19.58 DPS).
- High Skill, High Reward: Choose Pierce Lv3 with Step Shots (22.24 DPS).
